heya, i dont know if you'll get this in time, but I didnt get your yearbook e-mail, and you're not in the year 7 photo. [you got lucky this time...] I'll take the photo off of your facebook, k?
lol. I tried just scanning it and colouring it straight away, but I outline my pics either in pencil which is too light to see properly, or I use fine liners which make the lines look thick and blotchy. Plus I always make mistakes, and my pics have great streaks where I've rubbed out. I outline it on paintshop pro so that the lines are nice and thin, but because I scan at some stupidly high resolution, I have to resize it at the end which makes the whole thing look a little pixelated. Thats why I soften it, so overall it looks crappy.
In fact if you inked on paper first and scanned in, provided you have a lovely scanner which i'm sure you do, it should be find but i'll tell you what - if you have any version of Photoshop the pen tool will be great for going over your lines. Tablets really help with colouring though (although i admit mine was close to useless.)
Your lineart probably looks sharp because the tool you're using to trace over the sketches are sharp, ie probably something like pencil? I suggest getting a program (thou i won't necessarily promote illegal copies xD) which has a softer brush tool
Lol. hmm okay. xD Vectors are pretty easy. Practice makes perfect (in most cases.) Actually, being the unimaginative self, i'm having a lot of difficulty thinking of how to clothe my character; care to offer some help to a friend in need? D:
ooh i c! Im useless with vectors. I tend to scan my pics in and go over with my tablet. That's why my lineart looks v sharp and messy, so I soften everything, but that just looks blurry. Ahhh I need to learn to colour properly!

[cos they're just amazing]
And I tried using vectors today. I gave up though. It took too long. How long does it take you to draw out and colour your pics?
